Flexural cracks on pavement slab due to lack of reinforcement or expansion of subgrage

Flexural cracks in concrete slab on grade or pavements is caused due to lack of reinforcement to take the tensile stresses. Tensile stresses are caused due to settlement of soil underneath. Tensile stresses are also caused due to expansion of soil common in clayey soils. Providing sufficient reinforcement in grade slab can avoid these kind of failures.
